What’s it like…Signing Contracts

IMG_4319

IT’S GREAT!!!!!!

That’s pretty much it – except to say it takes a loooooong time. Or this one did. Lots of behind the scenes negotiation in which my agent, Sophie Hicks, more than earned her money. The skeleton deal was done four months ago, in November 2014.  My first lot of edits have already gone back. Still, this felt like a significant milestone on my publishing journey

Sophie has kept me informed all along so I knew these were about to arrive in the post. I am a giant child, however,  so I was vastly overexcited. I even tried to read it all. I’m kidding , of course I read it, and thanked the lord for my agent over and over again. When I got to a particularly challenging clause I just said,

‘That’s fine, Sophie will have checked it..’

So look, that’s me, the author Kathryn Evans.

I am so happy I could cry.
